"20 Years after the Fall of the Wall: Employment conditions in Europe – Challenges and Perspectives"
With the fall of the Iron Curtain twenty years ago, Europe embarked on a dramatic transformation. Despite continuous integration efforts, disparities in Europe remain. This is especially true for employment conditions.
Citizens have expressed concern about this during the European Citizens’ Consultations in February / March 2009 and have drafted 15 recommendations for decision-makers at the EU level. What do decision-makers think about these recommendations? How do they plan to tackle the disparities in employment conditions in Europe?
As part of the European Citizens´Consultations process, the regional debate took place to answer and discuss issues related to employment conditions in Europe in the presence of MEPs, high representative of the EC, experts and other stakeholders from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Austria.
The European Movement organised one of the five regional debates organized to follow up the results of the European Citizens’ Consultations 2009 initiated by the King Baudouin Foundation (Belgium).
